At what point does the optical fibre (fibre optical) stop?

I was talking to an acquaintance the other night who is ex BT (early retirement) and he reckoned it would run to the BT cabinet on the road and then use existing copper wiring into your house / flat / whatever. It's hardly going to be a profitable programme if they have to re-wire the premises as well?  rubschin:

That's right - FTC (fibre to cabinet).
Virgin have fibre running along the road and then run what looks like co-axial to the house.

I have been upgraded to Infinity 2 today .....Infinity just wasn't long enough  lol:

First they said March 31st 2012  -  never happened  ::)
Then they said December 31st 2012  -  that never happened either  ::) . According to the site:
