And less energy too = less heat = less noisy and unreliable fans...

One day all 'disks' will be solid state...

Amazing to think that the first 'Hard Drive' I sold was 4Megabytes and you now have that much memory in your system... The 4M drive had to be 'partitioned' to appear to the system to be 4 8" floppy drives...

Now you can get a sixty-four gigabyte solid state drive for eighty five quid....  noooo:

EDIT The HP hard drive system was a 9135A and it cost a mahoosive $5,500!  eeek:

No.

You'd have to find out how much space is used on your existing drive and buy a replacement SSD with suitable capavity.

Then you'd have to clone your existing drive to the new drive.

The new drive will be SATA and your old drive might not be so your PC may not have the capability to connect it.

And the fans in your system will also cool the CPU so you can't just remove them...

Overall, prolly not a good upgrade for a very old PC....  noooo:
