We have spent the afternoon arguing with weeping women and three elderly freemasons. It was chaos. The official representative of the Local Authority turned up to advise on procedure and they told him to "get stuffed".  eeek: (this after having first questioned his identity and credentials). He was clearly enraged (rightly) and bigger guns are now being wheeled in. Sorry if this is  abit cryptic, but you get the broader picutre!

I shall expect a telephonic update this evening.

Ho did you know they were Freemasons?

Three old lawyers in ther 60s. Blue suits. They had that look about them. Maybe Knights of St Vincent or summat. Arseholes to a man. Mrs Nick is thinking of turning Protestant. NO tangling now. I am fit to kill!

Total chaos this morning. Had the pleasure of seeing loads of parents and kids who had turned up on the wrong day. Didn't help that the council had introduced controlled parking yesterday, great fun.

I have one weeping and one very quiet one here.
1 hour 10 minutes to go.

I'll personally be glad when this annual 'going back' misery is all over.

Why is school so traumatic for most?

My three were all slightly nervous this morning as it's a new start, new year, new teachers etc. All unknown quantities but at the same time they were looking forward to joining up with mates not seen for six weeks. By the time they reached the gates of the school the boys were already taking the p*ss out of anyone with "New Kit" whilst trying hard to look like seasoned pros themselves by scuffing their new shoes , school bags etc on the pavements and walls.
I used to have a handle on life but it broke.
