Weird Catholic stuff: a dilemma
« on: January 23, 2012, 03:20:07 PM »
I informed the Boy last night that the local newsagent near Nick Towers 1 (I know the owner) is recruiting weekend paperboys (13+). I suggested it was his chance to get on the career ladder and earn some dosh.

AS you know Mrs NIck is Catholic  ::) It seems he goes on Sunday mornings to something called the Yoof SVP. I just looked it up. Aside from the religious mumbo jumbo which I always find worrying I can't find much to object to about their objectives (at least in his case)

What with that, the Grammar Skool, music and the CCF he might be OK. I hope

That's because skools are shite, even the very best ones (and his is one of the best) give a lad with spirit and intelligence something to kick against.

I just read a biog of John Betjeman .... He was always in bother at skool and got chucked out of Oxford at the end of his third year. He never did earn a degree until various establishments awarded him "Honourary" Doctorates etc.

Feel free to correct "Honourary" ~ The spoolchucker doesn't like it and wants me to put "Honorary".

The Brat made her maths teacher apologise to her last week. The teacher had accused her of distracting another student which she hadn't done and even the distracted girl in question turned round and said that wasn't the case.

So in front of the whole class she demanded an apology from the teacher  noooo: noooo: noooo:

My mate Brian told me at the weekend that his Biology teacher once told his best friend, let' call him Pete, in front of the whole class that his work was crap. Brian protested and got the reply, "And so is yours"

Being a straight A student he was baffled and upset and saw the teecher afterwards, almost in tears, to ask what he had done wrong.

Teecher said, "I didn't like to single him out."

When she told me however I was not impressed and we had a hoooge blow up for what I see as a lack of respect and she sees as standing up for herself and correcting injustice  ::)

The spoolchucker is correct. But calling your female head of year a "TWAT" to her face is not good  noooo:

lol: No indeed it is not but then the THW called the Head of Sixth "A lying little pervert" and when he protested told him to "Fuck off before I slap you" and then walked out of the room. He tried to follow her but was stopped at the door by two 6ft+ boys who told him that the THW was only saying what everyone else thought and if he did anything about it they'd hammer him. Word soon spread and the Geology Head (a 6'3" rugby playing Yorkshireman) told him much the same.

She also had a go at the History Teacher she was allotted when said teacher questioned a fact the THW had put in an essay. THW told her that since her degree was in PE she knew fuck all about History as a subject, that any fool could read a text book the night before a lesson and that if she wanted further guidance as to whether the facts stated were correct Woodstock would be happy to give her lessons.

Minor has had several run-ins with certain teachers as he too speaks his mind and sticks up for himself when he is right and they are wrong. Other teachers, however, do support him and say he is a delight to have in their classes.

I have been obliged to remind both of them that in the services one salutes the rank, not the person wearing it. The boy would do well to keep that in mind ... he should understand the concept as he is in the Cadet Corps.
