Delivery Tales
« on: January 25, 2012, 10:11:39 AM »
So I ordered an item off t'internet and got the usual confirmation email regarding be delivered within a week etc.

Small item , not of great value ( nor anything smutty before Nick chips in  whistle: )

Got an email yesterday saying will be delivered today  - courier not Royal Mail as I thought it would be.

Then get another email this morning saying will be delivered between 12.04 pm and 13.04 pm  eeek:

Seems awfully specific  rubschin:

We shall wait and see  noooo:

In the very tough world of business (as opposed to the public sector) it is what is known as "improving customer service".
Most courier companies now offer tracking services, this takes it a stage further and keeps you informed as to the progress of your package. All that has happened is that it is scanned as it is loaded on the van and the scanned info calculates a delivery time slot based on the drivers known route and how many parcels he has to deliver before he gets to you which is then passed to you via email. Contrary to popular myth they don't just throw everything in a van and drive around delivering at random. A great deal of planning goes into the operation.
I used to have a handle on life but it broke.
