We have the painters in
« on: February 27, 2012, 11:19:27 AM »
We have the painters in ..... Not a euphemism!

Several estate agents have valued the house and all are agreed that an external rub down and repaint would help sell it so I have gorra man in ~ in fact several men.

There was a time when I would have hired a ladder, bought a few litres of paint and done it myself but age and infirmity dictate that a man (or men) it must be ....... So I say goodbye to £1200 in the hopes that the bloody place will then sell.
I used to have a handle on life but it broke.

I thought of that but knowing your perfectionist approach to DIY I elected to go with Bodgit and Scarper Ltd ~ for reasons of speed and cheapness.

BTW It turns out that they are Grandfather, son and grandson. ;D

Grandfather (Ivor Jones) tells me that Son (Gareth Jones) will be along tomorrow but today he is scraping moss off a roof somewhere. "Grandson" turns out to be nephew. Grandfather is older than GOD! but is going up and down a ladder like a mad thing. Certainly he knows all the old boys in the village and has already told Woodstock about all the funerals he has been to in the past few years. It seems he knows this house and the 4 brothers (all now dead) who built it in 1949.
