Cool!

Exoplanet around Alpha Centauri is nearest ever

We've got a next door neighbour.

At 1200c, I really don't think so. noooo:

Ah, but where's there one planet in a system it now seems to be the case there are more.

Indeed. Exciting times.

Wonder if we'll ever find another planet as habitable as ours?

Chances are ...imo...IF we ever do, and that's a humomngously BIG IF, it'll be to too far away for us to ever reach it. sad32:

Weird but also sad to think that the probabilty of civilisation on another planet is extremely high....imo again.

I mean, this one tjhey've found is 'only' 4 light years away, but just how far IS that, in say, terms of comparison with the distance to Mars?

I did a quick "back-of-the-envelope calculation" calculation

3,700,000,000,000,000 double decker buses.

It's a relatively clear night tonight so we watched the space station pass over us a couple of hours ago.  cloud9: cloud9:

When the space station passes over Sheffield, the "Flush Now" light in the astro-lav turns on.
