Pretty much the same I agree but the girls include things like Handstands against the skool wall, showing off their white knickers.

Minor tells me that they still do that!

Not sure about the rest of the list tho'. My boys haven't done half of it  noooo:

It's all Wii/Playstation/Nintendo DS these days .... they never seem to go out to play any more.

What a shame....  noooo:

I was thinking about this earlier today for some reason...  rubschin:

I was remembering that when I was a kid (born 1960), there were things that were widely available that I never, ever dreamed that I would have access to....

I lived near the airport and loved watching the aircraft but I never dreamed that I would actually be able to go on one... also other stuff like having your own telephone in the house, a dishwasher, numerous other appliances that you might see on the (B/W) tellybox....

I can't think that kids of today have that same kind of 'wish list' that we did... they might want the latest iPhone but they probably have their own phone already along with a Wii/Playstation/Nintendo DS or whatever... what is there to really desire?

Agreed.

Nick, as I have seen, led The Boy into all sorts of "kid stuff" that we took for granted. I admire him for that and for the freedom he allowed The Boy to express himself and explore. Problem is that as parents nowadays we tend to be far too cautious.
With my two I greatly regret that my health and age have stopped me from doing things with them but I didn't think of that until after we'd had them. As a substitute I put them into "Cubs" and such but TBH they were not really interested and mostly wanted to stay at home with their electrics.
As I type Minor is in his bedroom ~ on his laptop (allegedly doing homework but prollly watching summat on iPlayer) ..... and Minimus is in the living room racing round Silverstone on the Play Station.

I was fortunate that I used to go down to Somerset for at least a week every Summer . With mum we used to take The Brat and go and do many such things. Then mum would have The Brat down on her own when she was a bit older.

Let her put a tent up in the garden to go and sleep as she had requested and then went and spooked her  lol:

Midnight walks in the wood.

Walking on Exmoor  cloud9:

Splashing through Fords and tramping through fields.

Climbing trees and fishing with a net etc.

Picking fruit from the fields and going and makes pies with it the same day  cloud9:

Taking her to the beach collecting shells for hours and sitting at home in the evening painting them .

I am so , so grateful she had these experiences. I know she treasures those memories and though she too is plugged into absolutely anything electrical now I know she had that , as I did and it comforts  me .

Indeed, The Boy has done most of those things, but then we did live in the country. Wot is a geocache?  rubschin:

It's a treasure hunting kinda thing but organsied in a social networking type of way. You find the treasure but have to replace it with something for someone else to find .
