Go to Blackberry.com and download the manual as a pdf, then  search on "notifications" or sounds, the solution will be there. Or go to crackberry.com and they'll hve the answer on their forums

Where you set your phone to "normal, loud, vibrate" etc, scroll down to "Set ringtone/Alerts
> Messages
> Email
> Modify it to silent
