The pikeys were parked up outside....clouds of heavenly fumes of BOILING TARMAC!

Someone should bottle that smell.

Bitumen. I like it too - also the smell of hot asphalt (which contains Bitumen among other things).....

Not a smell as such but always a pleasing moment when the roller first gets on a newly laid bed of hot material with its wet wheels and that steam and smell envelops you            (and they're the only clouds I've seen today)

Freshly laid tarmac just looks sssssooo sweet, and always a pleasure to drive on to.
Just makes a sort of gentle swishing noise as opposed to the previous crashing and swearing.

But not after five weeks of growth cos of all the rain and it was never dry enough to cut. It was a jungle out there

I hope that you had some black pudding.  I have decided that I am going to concoct two Stockbridge sausages.  I thought that one could include black pudding and Hendersons Relish not sure about the other one.... Suggestions for the other one on a postcard please.
