Highlights in my opinion - deaf/mute choir, volunteer cheer, whole thing with youths and torch, final flame design amazing - oh and James bond and stunt woman queenie of course.

Not too sure about the NHS slant - especially given the current politics over it all  ...but enjoyed the music and the surrealness of it all

All in all a triumph.

Well done Danny Boyle.

I was watching it one hour later than you guys on the $kybox. As a light-show it was superb, loved the industrial revolution stuf, particularly the making and lifting of the Olympic rings, the Daniel Craig/Queen thing was very good, the seven kids lighting the flame rather than a sporting superstar/celebrity was a masterstoke, and the flame itself was incredible. Danny Boyle, take your hat off sir

I use to love being taught about the industrial revolution at school, but don't remember Sgt Peppers being part of it though  confused:

Two downsides for me, please please please stop wheeling out (literally) Muhammad Ali for these events, it's so sad to see him like that.... and Macca, FFS give it up, your use-by date expired a long time back

Macca was poor and if they wanted a sing along at the end they could have chosen far better.

Agree about Muhammed Ali. I know he has been inspirational' ( A word I think by the end of the Olympics will have been the most overused) - but if I was a young boxing  sportsperson and saw him I'm sorry to say that I think it would put me off a career in the sport   - but he is not there to act as a deterrent. A confused message .

His 'health worker' seemed to be struggling a fair bit too  noooo:
