I'm not as technically minded as some of the others in here, but have you thought of pulling the plug out . It's just a hunch, but it might just work  whistle:

The remote must be there somewhere ...... unless you threw it out with rubbish whilst cleaning up the flat.
I should check the bins before they get emptied.
