"Dr" Reid to depart
« on: May 06, 2007, 02:33:58 PM »
From "Times Online" ... other media are also carrying this announcement
Quote
John Reid delivered a political bombshell today with the announcement that he would resign as Home Secretary and leave the Cabinet after Labour's forthcoming leadership election.

Well well well .... might have known the Scots would not be able to hold it together for long.Too tribal you see.
Still I doubt that the populace will miss him much ~ Pity though 'cos I would have liked to have known just what Gordon had on him .... have to wait for the memoirs I suppose.

Seems to me that they "Don't get on" But actions speak louder than words remembering that dear Gordon has said there is a place for (Reid) in his government.  Did he mean it or was he bluffing?  I would have thought that a fellow Scot in the Home Office would have been just the ticket.    Maybe Reid doesn't want to help him out... or be the first sacked.

The "Big Three" are the Chancellor, The Foreign Sec and the Home Sec ~ I suspect that GB has told Reid that he will not get one of those ... anything else would be seen and trumpeted as a demotion by the press who hate Reid anyway.

I can?t help but think the whole place will turn into a bloodbath after Blair leaves ? god knows its barely held together while he has been ?in command?.

Quite frankly, the only thing that this lot have managed to do well (very well in fact) is to be the ?opposition?. I thought they continually hounded the Conservatives and gave them a hard time in office ? something that the conservatives have completely failed to do.

Perhaps they should specialise in the ?opposition? role, stick to what you are good at, etcetera?
