That seems odd  rubschin:

Thieving bastards  cussing: cussing: cussing: cussing: cussing: cussing: cussing: cussing:

ANyhoo, shouldn't she be out partying and snogging and guarding her food?

Valid point well made.

Apparently their are several chinese residents on her floor, and they and their many invited Oriental friends are permanently in the kitchen talking their native tung  confused: and cooking strange noodeley type things.
She's feeling a bit lost amongst them and wishes she'd gone to a larger more vibrant 'house' now.

She's texting in a happy tone, but between the lines I sense a slight sense of despair.

 happy100

Growler it's a bit like when they go up to 'big school' for the first few weeks it's all very strange with lots of tears and a few tantrums, during the first term friendships come and go and by the time they go back after Christmas the best friend that was has become an enemy and the enemy has become the new bestest friend. By the end of the second term everything has settled down and in Uni's case they don't really remember the first term by then as they were too pissed.

It's not really like schooohell though is it?

My mindset is one of them actually WANTING to be there rather than being forced to by law, hence a better class of student, or am I just hoping on that one? rubschin:
This is actually what I told the MM yesterday, but I'm not too confident that that,or indeed anything actually sank in between the sobs. Shrugs:

I can't think of anything worse than seeing your kids upset tbh...nowt. noooo:
The great difficulty is trying to convince them that everything will be ok without sounding condecending.

Holding back the tears....just  apparently. cry:

Wants to move from her current flat as no one on her floor is talking to her, and going down to other floors is not really an option as you can't gain acess without a key or hammering until someone opens the main door....as I found out yesterday.  Banghead

She's seeing the accomodation officer tonight apparently with a view to moving to another block.

I can deel another trip coming on iminenetly, or p'raps I should hire Pickfords. whistle:
Thank the Lord she didn't go to Lincoln I say, or she'd be told she's staying exactly where she is, or move on yer own. evil:

This all sounds very familiar. They do settle in a few weeks tho'.

Lancaster, if I recall correctly, have a policy of mixing up their students in accommodation unlike Holloway where half the block were geologists ~ so at least shared lecture times etc which meant they tended to get up and go to bed at similar times ... also had same work deadlines.

The "ethnics" do cause a bit of a problem at times as the THW tells it. They (ethnics) like to converse in their own language and have a tendency to look down on English students because their (ethnics) governments are paying £ squillions for them to be there. Most have never been out of their own country before and have no idea how things work in the UK. Unfortunately the universities claim they can't exist financially without them.
I used to have a handle on life but it broke.

It's a tough time for parents and children alike. As Growler says at the time that it is happening there is not much worse than hearing your child unhappy because peole won't talk to her or whatever. except that at our ages we know that there is so much worse than that.  I would occasinly remind mine that as females in many countries they would not get the chance.  Oh and they didn't have to worry about bombs and schrapnel.  Might make me a bad mother but then I don't do cupcales either. eveilgrin:

Prolly best not to do it unti[ at least the 6th phone call. ;)

Even Mrs G agrees with me  eeek: eeek: eeek: when I suggested that the sooner the texts stop the more we'll know that she's more content and busying herself.

Meanwhile, it's a James Bond themed night in the students union place thingy tonight, and tomozo she'll be meeting up with all her course werk fellow stewdents.

I am glad that it all helped.  I think that most of us on here have been through a wringer of some sort and being on here has helped.

There will be ups and downs but it will all get sorted out. Hang onto the feeling that you have now for as long as you can.
