Yesterday Woodstock fell whilst walking the dog (Wet leaves underfoot).
She has dislocated her right shoulder, splintered the bone in her upper arm where it slots into the shoulder joint, split the bone from her shoulder down her upper arm.
Spent most of the day at A & E. They have given her a sling and painkillers and sent her home (No Beds!)
We now await her being called into the hospital over the weekend to have a metal plate fitted to her shoulder and the broken bone pinned. They also say that she has torn the muscle from the bone in her upper arm and they will try to reattach it. Also the CT scan shows some bits of bone (splinters) are missing so they need to find them as well. To do all this they have to sever the nerve in her upper arm and once the repairs have been done try to put the nerve back together ~ this will be followed by intensive physio of indeterminate length but they cannot tell her how much use she will have of (or for that matter how much feeling in) her right hand ~ it will, however, be "impaired" for life.
Poor old thing is in agony. Not much sleep for either of us last night.
