BTW...Is this stop-start system the thing that cuts the engine when you are stationary...? I've always wondered if the fuel saved matched the reduced battery life...?

All cars with the s&s technology have a switch to turn it off completely if you so desire.You have to physically take the car out of gear and into neutral before the engine will cut out.As soon as you dip the clutch, the car starts up again.
