No no no no. FIFTY SEVEN is a damned sight easier to say in one breath than ONE HUNDRED AND, yes another werd....AND FIFTY SEVEN, in'it?
FIFTY SEVEN just comes within the standard GROWLER number pronouncing tolerances, OK? whistle:

No, you have lost the plot... ::)

The point the OP was making was that we DO pronounce the whole number (fifty seven) when five seven would be simpler.

Yet on big numbers we say one five seven instead of one hundred and fifty seven - which is logical.

Or have I missed the point of the OP? Shrugs:

NO NO NO NO NO! Banghead

Repeat to yerself like.

FIFTY SEVEN.
yes?

Now ...ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY SEVEN.

Fifty seven is as simple as saying a single digit number virtually in'it ey?

It's the werd AND that cocks it all up in the hundreds numbers.
Has somebody slipped some hemp in your Golden Virginia today?
I mostly despair

There aren't enough bus routes in this area for it to be a problem.   whistle:

Same here.

Only one route and no worry about this or next, it's the bus.

Yea yea yea, but if you simply say it's THE bus, someone would probably piss right all over yer chips and say "WHICH bus", wouldn;'t they ey? Banghead

Granted, it wouldn't be too much of a problem for you  'cus you only have one bus....so it seems, so you'd be able to say to the dopey tosser ,probably named Nick, that asked which one, THE ONLY one you plank, wouldn't you?
