Meantime at least 3 other moggy owners are very happy with the repairs they got cheap using parts cannibalised from  . . . . . . .
Well, whatever, nevermind

...and so yet another week rolls by, and the car is still in there, in bits. eeek:

Spoke to his firey mother, she who should actually own a broom.

He wasn't there, and I gently  asked, fully aware of her short temper (which is presumably where he gets it from) had he actually done any work on the car since my last visit 3 days ago, during which i was told by your son that he'd endeavour to have it sorted this week.

She just turned on me like a friggin rotweiller and snarled..."I don't keep tabs on what he's doing you know" cussing:
She turned away from me, walked into her office and slammed the door in her temper, leaving me standing there with my arms and gob open wide in disbelief at her retort. Shrugs:

Trouble is, I'm entirely in his hands now, and if he wants to play the cnut with me, he knows I'm stuffed, can't physically move it, and can quite literaly take months if he so wishes. eeek:

They are now closed until next wednesday, so week 6 will be beckoning.

I am not sure why you did not buy a more up to date car?

It just seems daft to me that you buy a wanked out old car when a new one has much less hassle. Shrugs:

Nice little Fiat 500 perhaps  rubschin:

Cheap as chips to buy and run and you'd get the insurance premiums back in savings on running costs over a year or so.

New or preferably last year's demo  ...... some good deals to be had at the moment as they are launching their latest upgrade.

Oh and did I mention the The THW and her BF have been given the BF's mother's old Micra (52 plate). The THW and BF are the named drivers. She passed her test 18 months ago .... He only 6 months ago ..... They are both 19 ... He will be 20 next month, she will be 20 on June 1st. Car is to be kept parked on the road outside their student house share in Egham, Surrey. They are too honest as they told the insurers this but why listen to me?
They insured the Micra today for the two of them for £1050. That's the result of seeking over 150 quotes that ranged from £7k down to the one they took.
The where will the car be kept answer upped the premium by £100 and the lack of experience driving wise of the BF cost them another £230 so the THW could have insured it in her name only for £720 TPF&T

Growler is an muppet

Thanks for that urchin. evil:

I spent literally hours, probably days when all the hours are mounted up, ringing dozens of insurance companies and brokers, trawling the net on various web sites and forum, and doing many many internet insurance enquiries and quotes.
Me 'ed was totally ballooned after it all, and the cheapest quote i could get for a 'modern car' was £2720, and that was for just 10 months too, so make that 3 grand for the year.
One of the reasons for the high price was due to a NO BLAME claim 12 months ago that resulted in the woman that backed into her then car going through her insurance to pay for the repairs to MM's (mine actually) car.
THIS is sadly taken into considertation at calculating re-newal of premium time, and even though MM wasn't actually in the car at the time, in the eyes of thieving insurance companies, who are always looking for an excuse to whack premiums up, they now see MM as a potentially higher risk than she was previously.
Crazy, but true.

Add on the usual postcode risk shite too, and there you have it...IF that's ok with you like?  Shrugs:

As previously and well documented siomewhere on this thread, pages ago, MoMo cost just over £400 to insure for 12 months with unlimited mileage and full breakdown cover.

WHY TF am I having to justify what I decided to do anyway ey? Banghead

The total cost of these simple repairs that this so called friend is doing, one day, hopefully, is going to amount to approx £400 inc labour, of which 95% of it is alledgedly going to be paid for by the clown that 'passed' it in the first place, as he REALLY does not want VOSA getting involved...naturally.
