Back from the Orthopedic Consultant's Clinic: X-rayed and "manipulation" of shoulder joint.
Shoulder is well fvcked.
i) Some deterioration of bone/joint due probably to age
ii) Torn muscle which is repairing itself but will take time
iii) Torn ligaments that may need surgery ...... Scan next week to see the full extent of the damage
iv) He also spotted the fact that my left hand is clearly darker than the right hand which he says is probably nerve damage and so further tests on nerves are needed to confirm this.
v) Also, for purposes of elimination, he will be arranging tests on the vascular system of the shoulder and arm to ensure it isn't a restricted blood flow problem (which he doubts)
vi) Threats of cortisone injections over a period of weeks to ease the pain but not until he is certain what the problem is.
Meanwhile I have to keep the arm moving to avoid it seizing up but I must avoid straining it by going beyond the first sign of pain.
Oh Happy Days!
