I don't like him, I'd change railway carriages to get away from him, he's a complete berk for letting drop dead gorgeous and stonkingly rich Katy Perry go but he is talented and he does make me laugh sometimes

Quote from: RB in the USA 2008
"Some people, I think they're called racists, say America is not ready for a black president. But, I know America to be a forward-thinking country, right, because otherwise, you know, would you have let that retarded cowboy fella be president for eight years? We were very impressed. We thought it was nice of you to let him have a go, because, in England, he wouldn't be trusted with a pair of scissors.

Did I write the rules?

As said some time ago, am happy to support a refinement of the rules

Update

 - how about has to be famous enough that the obit has to appear within 2 working days of the death?

No, you didn't write the rules but there's playing to the rules and playing to the spirit of the rules.

Ben Tucker?

Others led, I just followed and at least I've suggested a way forward with a 2 day rule

Who wants to play Celebrity Death BingoTM Part III?

The idea is that anybody who wants to play sends me a PM. I will reply with their eight unique randomly generated numbers between 60 and 90.

The game will start on  1st June

I’ll be the ‘caller’ and will keep a list of the original numbers so there can be no cheating… apart from by me of course…

The idea is that when a celeb pops his clogs we take their age at death and mark it off our numbers.

So, to avoid any confusion, the basic rules are: -

1) Barman issues new All New All New Celebrity Death BingoTM numbers to anybody that sends a PM before the end of May 2013
2) Deaths start from 1st June2013 i.e. no retrospective deaths allowed. The age at death determines the number crossed off the score card.
3) The dear departed must get an obituary in one of the recognised National British Daily Papers, on the BBC Web Site or Sky News web site.
4) Players will post details of the dead celebrity on this thread so players can appeal the validity of the claim
5) As before, Uncle Mort will be the final arbiter of the validity of the claim in the event of any dispute.
6) Each player will receive 8 randomly generated numbers between 60 and 90 Plus a Bonus Death number (see below).
7) As the numbers are randomly generated you may receive two (or more) identical numbers within your 8. Each death only removes one of the numbers.
8) Each player may nominate a ‘Joker’ prior to the game starting (see below).
9) There is a prize of… a CAKE generously donated by Admin!
10) To ensure fairness I will give Snoopy a copy of my numbers.

Bonus Death Numbers
Each player will receive a Bonus Death Number which relates to the Bonus Death categories listed below.

When a celebrity (categorised as above) of any age expires by a method matching your Bonus Death Number, you may nominate one of your remaining numbers to be removed from your card.

1. Drugs overdose
2. Hanging
3. Car crash
4. Gunshot
5. Plane crash
6. Asphyxiation
7. Alcohol
8. Choke on vomit
9. Fall from height
10. Electrocution
11. Bizarre vacuum cleaner death
12. Fire
13. Explosion
14. Insertion

Joker
Each player may choose a celebrity as a Joker.

If that celebrity dies during the course of the game you may nominate one of your remaining numbers to be removed from your card. If the Joker’s age is also on your card you can remove two numbers.

Multiple players can choose the same Joker.

Example

You will receive numbers in the following format: -

80   62   66   69   84   71   85   90 & Bonus Death Number 7

What could possibly go wrong? Shrugs:

E&OE

Reminder of the basic rules as I had forgotten.....just in case anyone else has a memory like mine.. redface:
You only get one chance at this life so make the most of it .

As arbiter I have to leave it to others to question the validity of a particular claim. Mostly I would expect players to understand the definition of celebrity, admittedly accepting the slippery notion of the word.

IIRC, I raised this as an issue in CDB 1, when Laurence Dallaglio's mum or some relative was included. I vote no to Martin Bernal, but had I had 76 I'd be claiming to have all his albums like  ;)
