Yes, it was a terrible murder. Yes, the police totally fucked it up. Yes, they did then go on to cover up their mistakes and blame everyone but themselves. But please, enough is enough, just let it go.

I don't believe in statutes of limitations anyway but we certainly can't let this latest revelation go without investigation.

If and it is an IF some senior copper or coppers conspired to pervert the course of justice then we have to make sure (a) no one dares do it again and (b) anyone seeing it knows they will be taken seriously

It's not about the statute of limitations but of realising that shit happens and that at some point you've got to let it go. I've no doubt that the police are currently undertaking lots of "CYA" operations. As is the NHS, it's the nature of institutions.

They will (a) always do it again and (b) whistle blow immediately or you're not being serious but looking for your own self-aggrandisement
