My place is on the posh side of the island...Besides, due to severe water ingress, needs some work doing...like a new roof, lime pointing etc...Thass my job. You could get it patched up on the cheap by the locals though......and have it done next year again. (cut & paste, cut & paste etc..) Couple of Poles in the village are going to look at the roof. They did a good job on a nearby house - and cheap too. Waiting for a quote.May try to repoint the walls meself like next time I'm out there...It is all about the materials used. Most use the cheapest shittiest stuff going so they can subsidies their wages. The job looks good for a short while, but they will blame the weather etc.. when it peels off 18 months later. I can have a look at the quote for you that they give you as long as they state what materials they plan on using and then give you a timeline of realistically how many months it will last. It is worth paying for the right stuff if you are planning on keeping the place. If you are selling then tosh it up and hope it sells VERY quickly. Lime pointing is a job you should give to the Poles to do on the cheap. Have you ever werked with that stuff? If you have a go yourself wear gloves, overalls and a facemask at ALL times (not good in this weather). I tells ya let them do it, do not go anywhere near the shite....now banned in most EU countries and for a good reason.

The Poles are looking at the roof...so far as I know they will be using roof tiles that wont peel off... You don't work for them fucking cowboys Weathershield do ya...Got ripped off by them 5 years ago...Bastards...Anyhoo, they still use lime mortar in the UK to re-point old houses...lets em breathe and stops damp problems. I have a stone cottage which is over 100 years old located in a traditional agrotourism village. Gotta keep it looking right...
