Seriously, "Freedom of Choice" is not an answer as to why? You don't do things just because you can. There must be a reason.
Another thought:
If you're more likely to do something when drunk than sober then maybe it's not such a good idea after all. Not saying you had yours done under the influence but many do.
100% honesty here - my sister (older by one year) had wanted to have a tattoo which she felt would help her remember her son who had been killed in a road accident a few years prior, but she didn't have the bottle to go along herself, so I said 'why not - let's go' and one Saturday morning off we toddled to the parlour..................
Actually felt a bit old myself to be doing something like this but felt good about helping her do something she wanted and I love it - BM hates it - but I have never regretted it

So stone cold sober, no regrets and YES I'd do it again
However I do agree that many (probably) do take this type of decision under the influence and that's not wise as it definitely is something that is not going to disappear when you sober up
