Leg muscles need to be kept warm in case you have to start running at short notice.
Recumbent quadrupeds tend to sit with their legs folded underneath them.
Bipeds, with little hair on their limbs, attempt to retain heat by pressing legs together or crossing them and wrapping the arms round their torso.

Unless there are sabre-toothed tigers or the like in your area, you could probably start the evolutionary process of sitting with legs akimbo (cue Ethiopian sprinter joke)

Obviously, that's why the Chavs prefer jogging bottoms.   whistle:
It's better than I ever even knew.  They say that the world was built for two.  Only worth living if somebody is loving you.  Baby now you do.

my ankles are crossed as per usual.  Sadly unlike for DS, there is no peasant to rest them on

If you cross at the knee one leg goes to sleep as you find out when you fall over when someone rings the doorbell

Anyway isn't crossing at the knees for young ladies wanting to flash their thighs - and long may they do so
Well, whatever, nevermind
