An interesting article, APC. This dude is a complete nutter, and he is 19 and has two children. What hope have the children got ?

Cool Hand hasn't been to the UK since he got Harold Wilson elected twice in 1974, but it might be time for him to return and clean the joint up.

It is a shit hole now.... CHL would need more than a pair of rubber gloves and a bottle of Domestos....

I have to go back next year ,,, evil:  Miss T's sister is getting married......and it's up fvcking north....... eeek: eeek:

The UK is not a shit hole.  It has dodgy areas yes esp in NI where catholics and protestants are still bombing and killing each other in rather worrying numbers despite CHL believing that's ended.

An interesting read for CHL:  http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-10866072
Yes, it's obviously still not good in Northern Ireland. Better than during The Troubles in the seventies, though, with Ian Paisley and Gerry Adams inciting violence.

. . .That is your opinion and you are entitled to it...

It doesn't however negate my opinion that the place is a shit hole...

A pace where you can get off a train and (apart from the red buses) not know you are in the country of your birth because 100% of the local population are foreigners...
Yes it is my opinion.  Maybe I've been exceptionally lucky but in over 50 years of travelling by train in the UK I've never had that experience and it seems the census people haven't either.  Maybe I'm exceptionally lucky to have seen and see and met and meet far far more good than bad all round the UK.

Maybe but I suggest not.

On the whole it's a great but not perfect country.  For those with no allegiance I'd say Oz is far better and clearly for some Cyprus is better.  We all make our choices.

Well, whatever, nevermind

Steve's voice is truly one of reason and common sense.

The assumption made by some of the Cypriot Brits that all foreigners are bad for the UK is extraordinary. Boadicea probably said the same thing.

In the world of Cool Hand Luke there is a concept of loyalty (which doesn't need to be jingoistic) to one's own country, and I would observe that it's common to most people worldwide. This is not a concept that appears popular with the English, and I wonder why. Oh, I nearly forgot: it's the fault of those low-life foreigners.

You've obviously never got off the train at Wembley, Slough, Bradford or even Southall where the station signs are actually printed in two languages.... ::)

There is a typo in them - they should obviously read "You're welcome to Southall"...  lol:

I seem to recall signs in Cyprus being in two languages as well. Are you suggesting that they just be in Greek ?

This forum is going to the dogs, first a sober Scot and now a reasonable Australian.

Speaking of sporting venues, does anyone know how it's going at Adelaide Oval ? I think there might have been a match at the Gabba before that.

Cyprus has a long history with the UK - we owned it until 1960 and still have a number of sovereign base areas here - hence the English road signs, electrical sockets, telephone sockets, legal system, driving on the correct side of the road, etc.

I don't think the same holds for Southall or Wembley and those that now live there...

I can understand how tumbling out of Wembley Park Station on match day with thousands of other fans and walking to the stadium would give you a different impression of the place.....
