In an ideal world then yes this a despicable policy but this isn't the situation.
There is a limited amount of funds available to treat the population so treating those that would return the best "value" is sensible. I have no problem with that.
Of course such a policy would impact the elderly but there comes a point, and I believe we are all aware of it, when quality of life becomes diminished and any treatment only alleviates the inevitable.
Sorry but calling it a "Nazi" policy is way over the top.
It's not like it's anything new either.
Two patients one is 12, the other 72 and both need the one available kidney. Who should get it?
In a case like that there is no question really but drugs are different 
If it is down to money save the bloody money elsewhere. .. They waste enough of it 
And are quick enough to give it away to countries who don't give a stuff about us or to people who come here for the handouts us mugs are paying for Where do they stop ...

The NHS is costing £4,000 a year for every person working in the UK, that's more than the average earner is paying in income tax. A limit is going to be reached if not already.
Income tax, plus NI, plus fuel duty, road tax, fag and booze duty, corporation tax, etc. It all goes into a big pot that the government pisses away...
It is ridiculous to suggest that savings could not be made in government expenditure that would cover NHS costs...
Yes of course we can spend that £10B foreign economic and military aid over and over again - in our dreams.

Look at the EA - the guy that runs it only works part time yet is paid £100K.
While laws are increasingly made in Brussels we still have 650 MPs... why? They have nothing better to do now than passing illiberal laws banning smoking in cars...
Vast areas of government (including the NHS) could be privatised saving billions and billions of Pounds...
