You asked why? ~ I supplied references to the rules that apply and went on to agree with you about the jobs-worths concerned. Read the rules and they recommend that manouvers are performed in a manner that, should there be a collision, the speed of the aircraft would take the debris clear of the crowds. I didn't write 'em ~ just answered your query as to who wrote them. I did also make the point that both the pilots and the crowds know the thrill of being over-flown and that they will do this if possible, without endangering the crowd. Actually the gathering was probably more in danger from a commercial aircraft crossing the Irish Sea suffering a disaster than from the Red Arrows who I know, from personal involvement, are far more highly trained and far better serviced than any commercial aircraft or it's crew..
