Eco friendly buildings
« on: September 21, 2014, 04:33:25 PM »
The university prides itself on its eco friendly buildings.  ::)  I have noticed on a number of visits that many people have radios intheir offices which supply constant background music. It seems that the lights in offices are "sound sensitive". If the room is quiet for more than 30 seconds the lights go out. So 30 seconds of silent reading means you are plunged into darkness unless you cough or bang your desk every 29 seconds  ::)

I hear that films and DVDs are a nightmare as if you turn the lights out to show something then they come on automatically at the first hint of dialogue or background music.

Oh yes, and the library is sinking as the designers forgot to factor in the weight of the books and furniture in their calculations about the strength of the foundations  ::) ::)
