MS will be pushing out 10 to all users, it will not be optional.

You sign up for Windows update, you get 10. Will no longer be an option.
They'd get a class action in the USA for all the incompatible PCs thus knackered
They've made updates compulsory once you've updated to 10 but that's probably common sense.
