Due to European Directive 2006/66/EC regarding the disposal of Nickel Cadmium batteries coming into force, these Batteries will no longer be available for normal use in European countries.

You can still get them off Amazon here so what's the problem?

Due to this legislation Kowalski have, with immediate effect, withdrawn the Classic and Speed torches from the range.This streamlining of the range has meant that only torches with Lithium Ion batteries are available. For servicing purposes kowalski Germany will no longer carry out NiCad battery replacements, from the start of 2013 battery replacement on faulty torches will only be available as a Lithium Ion Upgrade, please see the info below for guidelines on suitability and costs.Please note that for the battery and electronics upgrade you would be looking to pay in excess of £200 and so sometimes the costs for these repairs may restrictive.
