A Sudden Death
« on: March 27, 2015, 07:48:11 PM »
Yesterday I was contacted via Facebook by my niece asking if I’ve heard from her dad, my brother Len, as she hadn’t and knew that I saw and spoke to him on a regular basis.  I went back to say no and then thought that’s odd as he hadn’t called me to confirm he was coming over for the weekend. After a bit of to and froing and she tried to call the local police to go over to his house to see what’s what. 20mins on hold she gave up, arranged baby sitters and went over with her hubby.
She had keys so went in and as you can guess, found him dead on the floor. Called me, totally distraught. I ended up talking to her husband, police and paramedics called.

Since then it’s been constant phone calls to/from family (I have three other siblings plus various others)

Coroner believes its natural causes but needs to check with the GP before a death certificate can be issued.

Sorry to lay this on you but I feel a need to share it with people a step removed as it were.

It's an odd feeling, by rights we would be sitting playing crib now with the footy on in the background.

I am so sorry Uncle. Obviously, our thoughts are with you at this heartbreaking time, and should you ever need to unload, that is the purpose of sincere friends on the VP, as well you know.

Our kindest wishes go out to you and your family. x x x x

Awful news for you Uncle and of course his daughter and wider family.  Sounds like he was a good friend as much as a brother.  RIP

Well, whatever, nevermind

How awful. I am very sorry for where you find yourself.

I know you won't need telling that your Niece will need the most support after such a trauma.
I mostly despair

Oh Unc, How awful .
I bet it just doesn't feel real to anyone right now.
Huge hugs and we all have our bestest listening ears on for when you want to unload.
We also can try and distract you with our usual nonsense.
Be kind to yourself though x

So sorry to hear this Uncle. Sincere condolences to you and all your family. Nice to know that although many on here haven't yet met, we regard each other as friends that we can turn to

Hugs.

My father died in January & although he was 87 it was still a shock.
He had a heart attack late on the Wednesday night & was taken to Harefield Hospital,
but at least we were able to be there when they switched off his life support systems midday Thursday.

I couldn't ask for better friends. I could ask for more NORMAL friends, but not better ones.
