Miss I is missing her labrador "who understands everything I say". He lives in Rome.

She wants to bring him here in the summer, but she thinks that he won't like planes or trains.

The obvious plan, therefore, is to hike all the way. She estimates about 2 months 

I suggested a motorbike and sidecar or just a car. She regards this as a ridiculous idea.

Perhaps we have missed the point here, judging from the OP it sounds like Miss I is planning this sans Nick. Could it be a cunningly disguised break for sanity?

Hike all the way to Italy and then hike  all the back with a pissed off  pooch because it it 'thought' that the dog may not like trains or planes an I am the mong
