We all have a touch of both is my guess, along with Scandinavian and German.

You have to follow a paper trail back to find your actual ancestors.

I sure there would be record of his birth mother. Isn't he entitled to know that information if he so wishes? I thought every adopted child had the right to know this.

True, but she has 4 kids by several different dads. some foreign. He has no clue about his ancestry.  It may be interesting to see. I reckon a lot of Norwegian in there somewhere/////
