Jam 'n' Meat
« on: September 11, 2007, 03:05:02 PM »
Feeling somewhat peckish I sidled into the kitchen looking for a snack. I commend to you...

A slice a Gala pie with a good dollop of Redcurrant jam

There must be a whole host of undiscovered combinations; I thought I might try some cold lamb and apricot jam later  ;D

Jams are just like chutneys really. We get fruity ones at the farmers market.

Yes.  redface: And in the Wench household since I filled the freezer up on my last trip.  redface:

Meat and preserved fruit is nothing new.
Pork and Apple
Duck and Orange
Turkey/Chicken and Cranberry
Ham and Pineapple
The list is endless. Much stranger to my mind was a guy I used to go sea fishing with. He always took along huge doorsteps of bread, spread with strawberry jam and made into sandwiches with chunks of cheddar cheese.
6 miles off the Needles in an 18 foot boat against an incoming tide one look at him munching these guaranteed several of the party would supply "groundbait"

Bet that was on candles. Take out the decimal and that is what Mrs S spent on her visit two weeks ago.

I have only been twice, to the big one at Crodon, where power station used to be.
Only good thing is that I get to ride on the tram.

That's the one I've used... only on a weekday... and get in and out first before the hordes. I think the last thing I bought there was a couple of those rubber ice cube thingies  confused:

Mrs Tel and her sister often meet there for a coffee (and shop). I will sometimes look through catalogues, but that's as far as it goes. Why do people end up buying furniture or bloody great plants that then don't fit in their cars?
