Merry Christmas all. Just finished a 14 hour night shift and my cleaners were absolute stars - 6 teams, 60 aircraft all cleaned to a high standard (I audited them - 93-97%) by 0500. I sent them all home and will pay them for the full shift, which normally ends at 0800.
Gatwick resembles an aviation version of the M25 today - as there are very few flights today, lots of the planes are towed to remote stands and even lined up along normal taxiways. Only pushback tugs and aircraft can venture onto these areas, so it was a mad rush to get certain aircraft cleaned before they were towed to somewhere inacessible. But they did it.
Thing is, now I know that they can clean the planes so well and so quickly, I have to ask myself why - on other nights - they seem to struggle...
