Found this and thought it quite appropriate
A quirky place with lots of sun
Deep blue sea and lots of fun
History, culture mountains too
A pleasant place for me and you
A lifestyle change a better life
For me the kids and the wife
But there’s something missing from the place
We don’t want Souvla or Lefkara Lace
What we want is British brands
Designer clothes and indie bands
Where are the Aldi and Primark stores?
Why have they not reached these sunny shores?
It’s time we petitioned and shout out loud
To be heard above the traditional crowd
I didn’t move here to live the life
Of the Cypriot man and his wife
I am an expat don’t you know
And I get what I want wherever I go
As for speaking your native tongue
It’s too late I’m not that young
You all speak English anyway
So why should I bother that’s what I say
You drive your cars like crazy fools
You talk too loud like neighing mules
You can’t park your cars the way you should
It drives me mad, if only you would
To integrate is not my plan
I love the life of an Expat Man
I’ll live a life that suits me fine
It has to be lager not Cypriot wine
Listen to me as I say
I will change the Cyprus way
For I know best and will do this now
Listen to me as I tell you how
Superdrug, Tesco, Waitrose too
That’ll be better for me and you
Change the hospitals and how they work
Do it now don’t be a jerk
Smart roads and fines galore
We’ll change the system and make you poor
Council tax and more street crime
It’ll come just give it time
Burgled houses and stolen goods
Coming to all our neighbourhoods
Cyprus was such a beautiful place
But it lacked a certain expat grace
Five years later I look and see
What the place is now to me
It’s not why I moved here it’s changed a lot
Winters too cold and summer to hot
Everywhere I drive all I see
Is Lidl, Debenhams and Maccy D
I moved here for a better life
Me my kids and loving wife
But Time to go and move once more
To a new location a foreign shore
I came here for a better way
To spend my life, my every day
Five years here were not a blast
Because Cyprus changed from its past
But now I feel a sense of shame
Because I know it’s me to blame
The things I wanted were like a curse
And have made this Island much, much worse
The quirky Island that was such fun
Is now like Butlins in the sun
I’ll book a flight and leave today
To another place to mould my way
So see you Cyprus rest in peace
I found a small Island close to Greece
