'NPC'  an expression I detest

Has become a pejorative used by people who either don't understand third party harm or worse want to cause third party harm

YouTube has become infested with plausible at first look fake news stations, just like Arsebook got infested with fake news stories.  And then real people were murdered

Unfortunately while it is a term you detest it is also bloody accurate and increased in popularity because of a growing movement of people sick of mindless follow the leader cancel culture. How many people do you think jump on 'woke' bandwagons just because they believe they are SJW's (a term I despise with a passion. You aren't a warrior, they sacrifice of themselves in order to protect society. You are a whining gobshite who has been so sheltered you have no concept of the real world.) and have no concept of critical thinking or free agency and decide that anyone who doesn't follow in their ideology has to be a bigot who must be punished.

Fake news stations don't just exist on Youtube and Facebook though, look at what's become of CNN and MSNBC. They used to be respected news outlets and look at them now. MSNBC has Rachel Maddow as it's figurehead, the left wing equivalent of Alex Jones with a fixation of Donald Trump that could almost be described as a fetish and CNN has idiots like Don Lemon who is infamous for saying that Malasian Airlines flight MH370 could have flown through a mini black hole, then stating that one could swallow the galaxy. Hey Don, guess what..... at the centre of this galaxy there is a little thing called Sagittarius A, a SUPERMASSIVE BLACK HOLE and guess what.................after millions of years the galaxy is still here.

You've hardly touched a nerve, I'm just sick and tired of, not to mention more than a little concerned about cancel culture. It's nothing more than the rule of the loudest mob which has on more then one occasion punished people for having an opinion that is contrary to that of these activist idiots. Last time I checked in most developed nations people have the right to have differing opinions without fearing reprisals. Not to mention the collateral damage that is also caused when this happens.

As for Don Lemon it wasn't a reinvention as a reaction to a longer version of that segment which I saw before it was mysteriously DCMA'd to hell. I do notice you aren't arguing my point about Maddow though.

I've previously mentioned the annual Youtube adpocalypse which is kicked off because a content creator will state an opinion on one of their videos that doesn't contravene any of the rules and regulations for the site but is contrary to the ideology of the mob who then complain. The YT execs then act in a panic and establish new rules which cut advertising revenue to creators who have had nothing to do with the initial event because they are scared that companies won't want to advertise on their site. In some cases content creators who were earning upwards of five thousand a month suddenly had their advertising income cut to a fraction if not entirely wiped out.

Now on top of that factor in any political biases within Google, anyone who has seen the infamous video of senior managers at a 'town hall' event not long after Trump was elected talking about their feelings and strongly implying how they plan to influence the next election knows exactly what I'm talking about. Now you can see why I am sick, tired and concerned about the whole bloody thing and why I call them NPC's. They either have or use no critical thought or reasoning skills but simply regurgitate a set of arguments and non-sequiturs bequeathed to them by someone else. I'd call them stereotypical lemmings except they hurt other people rather than themselves.

Digital Millennium Copyright Act, sorry I mistyped it. A piece of legislation that has been used and misused on multiple occasions to force content creators to remove or re-edit videos even if content they have used is covered by 'fair usage'.

As I said earlier, if you are going to ban Alex Jones for lying then Rachel Maddow has to go as well. The only difference between the pair of them is that she is seen to be a part of the mainstream media and permanently targets trump and so gets lauded for it.

Jones is the modern day equivalent of the nutter at the corner of the street screaming the end of the world is nigh or that the Royal Family are alien lizard people. The conspiracy content he comes up with is the kind of thing that anybody with an IQ in double figures can immediately tell is just deranged ranting. Is it offensive? Certainly, but no more so than politicians using such tragedies for their own political gain.

Maddow on the other hand is more insidious, using her role as part of the mainstream media in what was once a respected news agency she's gone out of her way to try and legitimise any anti Trump story, celebrating any and all 'expose' no matter how ridiculous or serious the consequences of her daily dose of ranting propaganda could be and every time she has been proven to be at best inaccurate or at worst deliberately lying she ignores it and ploughs on with her next 'story'.

To name a few:

Trump is a Russian agent? Debunked
Russian hackers gave Trump the election? Debunked, yes there was evidence of Russian hacking but the effects were proven to be minimal.
Russia agents may be about to hack into America's power systems in the middle of winter when it's -50? Debunked - based on a story by the Washington Post they removed and apologised for getting wrong.
Trump's watersports sex tape? Debunked. Adam Schiff was humiliated when it was shown that the people he had been talking to about obtaining the tape were a pair of pranksters.
The Steele Report, Maddows personal fetish? Debunked
The 'exclusive' scoop about being sent a fake NSA document to damage her credibility? Debunked by the meta data.
Trump ordered Cohen to lie to Congress? Debunked, the story was inconsistent with is guilty plea.
The Muller Report? Maddow was crying on camera when it came to nothing.
Having Trump's tax returns? Debunked, yes she had some of his tax information but it was almost a decade old and had nothing incriminating. Certainly no evidence of the Russian connection she had been claiming.

Politifact, a Pulitzer prize winning news organisation, examined a number of statements made by Maddow and found that most of them were at best half truths and at worst outright lies.

https://www.politifact.com/personalities/rachel-maddow/statements/by/?page=1

She is also being being sued for $10 million in a defamation claim for accusing a journalist of being a Russian agent because he writes a few articles on international news as a freelancer for Sputnik News.

https://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2019/01/has-rachel-maddow-entered-her-infowars-period.html

All Maddow has accomplished is to feed the paranoia and political divisions that have spread across the country since the election. How many times have we seen news reports of groups like Antifa beating the living daylights out of somebody for no reason because they have been fired up by the rhetoric, misinformation and in some cases outright lies being peddled by a section of the news media that has Maddow as it's figurehead?
