Moving house inside the same house
« on: September 15, 2007, 08:39:31 AM »
Oh dear. The builders arrive on Monday. All they are doing is fixing one wall in one room. The room has the normal number of walls (4). I suiggested we should move everything from one side of the room to the other to give the builders a clear space to work in.

Oh no. We have to pack EVERYTHING  in the room away. This includes: 1 piano, the 13 boxes with the new dining thingy in them, 1000 books (boxes to be had from Tesco), about half a ton of Mrs Nick's tat, another dining table, a telly we haven't switched on for 10 years (dump) and other miscellaneous tat. I have no idea where all this stuff is supposed to go. Do I really have to put the piano in the kitchen?

The builders will be here for 3 days, at the end of which everything will have to be returned to its original location  evil: pending the arrival of carpet layers (October) when IT WILL ALL HAVE TO BE MOVED AGAIN (twice) cussing:

Why can't we just cover stuff in dust sheets? noooo:

Oh and I forgot. Whole stereo system with wall mounted speakers and associated wiring Banghead

Oh how well I know this scenario ....... You may recall we were in a similar state on your recent visit. Still not straight.
One piece of advice though ~~~ WATCH OUT FOR FALLING WARDROBE DOORS!

I have just got a TV, old computer and ancient video machine in the car (along wtih other tat that Mrs Nick does not know I am disposing of like her collection of empty shoe boxes.) None of this helped by the scaffolding tower outside the back door. evil:

She materialised and said. "NOt the video!"

I am now going to have to prove to her that a) it doesn't work and b) is no use to us even if it does.

You  know ~ Mrs Snoopy said exactly the same thing. She added that in her opinion Nick would be so deep in the sh*t when Mrs Nick finds her empty shoe boxes gone it'll take him a month to dig his way out.

What good are they? See also: 3 dozen empty cassette cases. Why?

They have gone too!

I?m demolishing a chimney on Monday ? I may produce a picture diary so you can see what goes wrong?  evil:

Mrs. Barman insists that the whole room is cleared and covered in double-triple dust sheets and the curtains are taken down and stuff?  ::)

Of course dear, of course?  whistle:

Our problems in the dining room started with a chimney that had not been used for over thirty years. Have you any idea how much soot can fall out of that when the first two bricks are removed?
Let me put it this way ~ we will not be spring cleaning the house for the next two years after the blitz we have been through because of it.
Clear the room and wear a mask is my advice ~ or get a man in and blame him.

The 'man' quoted between CY?200 and CY?550 to do the job? I figure that?s money in my pocket for a fisheye lens or jet engine?  whistle:

There's a tall guy, lives not too far from me.
I intend to ensure that is engraved on his tomb stone. You may know him.
