Why have they got a button to open the lid .. rubschin:  when did we become unable to open a kettle lid .. evil:

Now it has 2 buttons .....everytime with this new one I open the lid not turn it on... redface: evil:

The filter is there to prevent a build up of limescale and other impurities. Sounds like the inside of your kettle will be spotless but as you will have been pouring that stuff straight into your tea I've no idea what state your guts will be in...  noooo:

IIRC the button is so you can open the lid with the kettle holding hand while turning on the tap with t'other hand

(We don't use a kettle anymore here since we got the Quooker thingy)

When you fill by the spout it also prevents you from having to see all the scale build up and kettle 'dandruff'  :thumbsup:
