'Just Popped By'
« on: May 05, 2021, 12:45:11 PM »
So I appreciate that people will want to come and visit The Man after not being allowed to see him in horsepickle -  but when did the custom of letting you know they were intending on darkening your doorstep stop?

I know we are likely to be at home, due to Covid and cancer, but good manners dictates you should let your intended victims know first .

For the last 3 days we have had unannounced visitors who were 'just popping by'  noooo:  This morning I was expecting ParcelForce and when I opened the door got a pally face from one of his workmates.  I was still in PJ's as have been a keyboard warrior all morning on work stuff  - not even put a rake in my hair . He looked aghast  lol:

So what if it was 11.30  noooo:

You can text , email , phone ,messenger etc these days  - just don't use bloody ESP  noooo:

You missed the opportunity for the "Opened the door in my pyjamas" Joke.

On the OP, it seems just one more casualty of the war on good manners.
You should keep a roll of those 'queue tickets' (you must have them at work!) by the door.
Just hand one to the visitor, note the number and tell them he is seeing that number minus 50 at the moment and they would probably be better to come back tomorrow afternoon.

When I was post Op luckily no one turned up unannounced but it has happened before and it's just not acceptable these days.   As for people that phone after 9pm  evil:
