Pelosi attack
« on: October 29, 2022, 01:40:29 PM »
So an alt right Qanon following, Anti Vax nutjob called David DePape goes seeking to kill Nancy Pelosi and frustrated tries to kill her husband instead using a hammer leaving him hospitalised needing brain surgery.

And what do we hear from the Kevin McCarthys, the Tucker Carlsons and Donald Trumps and even Fox News that have fueled him with their toxic mix of lies and hate?  A mx of nothing or blaming it on the Democrats for daring to not share their views and certainly no sympathy for the Pelosis

What a fucked up world these people are trying to create.

Depape also had a long history of drug abuse, listed himself in voting records as a member of the Green party, was part of a nudist activist group, used to live with the infamous Gypsy Taub and had his own business making hemp jewellery so not an average alt right nutjob. I also can't think of anyone on the alt right who would have a pride flag flying in front of their house

Personally it sounds more like he was someone with serious mental health issues that have been made worse over the years by heavy drug use who gravitated towards the anti establishment conspiracy theorist crowd, a number of whom were known to associate with Taub. Given just how polarized the country is at the moment, the bile and rhetoric from BOTH sides of the fence, the scale of the mental health problems in San Francisco and New York something like this was going to end up happening sooner or later. Oh and before anyone says anything I am by no means condoning this attack, something like this should never be condoned.

One last thing I will point out. A few years ago when Rand Paul was attacked and almost murdered, leaving him with multiple broken ribs and having to have part of his lung removed, Christine Pelosi supported his attacker saying he was right to have carried out the act.

::) Christine Pelosi is not Nancy Pelosi and that poor tweet 3 years AFTER Rand Paul was attacked in no way could be seen as inciting that assault.

Kevin McCarthy however actively incited people to attack Nacy Pelosi with hammer like weapons

Just so we are clear here, are you saying that McCarthy specifically incited people to attack Nancy Pelosi with a hammer or hammer like weapon? If so then why hasn't he been arrested?

So you are saying that something he said as a joke at a fundraising event over a year ago after being given an oversized novelty gavel was intentional incitement to Depape directly causing the attack?

Ok, then going by your standards Maxine Waters is directly responsible for the lives lost and billions of dollars in damage caused by the riots after her speech which WAS incitement as is Pelosi herself who stated in an interview that she didn't understand why there hadn't been an insurrection already.

The difference is that McCarthy's comment, repugnant as it was, was made in jest. The others I've given examples of were made seriously.

It's a miracle it hasn't happened sooner and also a mriacle that the twat only had a hammer and not a gun.

The idiots who fell for Tump felt able to go full racist, angry, and since, and leading up to, January 6th are a dangerous mob, The genie is out of the bottle and even if Trump goes to prison, as he well deserves, this will not end anytime soon.  It beggars belief that morons like Greene, Boebert, Gosar, De Santis et al can actually get elected by spewing hate and stupidity.

because he didn't specifically incite, he and those lying manipulators like Carlson I'm not being allowed to expose here, have generally incited

I'm not treating anyone like a hero, I actually looked up the news coverage from both sides of the political spectrum and took my view on McCarthy's comment from there. Even you have to admit there is a hell of a difference between his making a joke in extremely poor taste during a fundraiser and Maxine Waters calling for direct confrontation of members of Trump's cabinet. Be honest here, if it had been a republican making that speech about members of the Biden administration you would have been up in arms saying here was proof that the GOP were trying to incite violence.

And that's not even mentioning Biden's constant comments about 70 million voters being a direct threat to democracy because they chose to vote for Trump, not to mention permitting actions such as the DOJ categorising parents who had genuine concerns about what their children were being taught in schools as domestic terrorists.

You can stand on your soapbox and rant to the heavens that it's all the fault of Trump and the GOP as much as you want but anyone with a wider view can see that there is fault on BOTH sides.
