Don't EVER buy a Land Rover.
« on: May 10, 2007, 01:24:59 PM »
The most and biggest heap of shite I've ever had the misfortune to own.

This weeks breakdown?

ABS sensor goosed now. evil:
Another ?125 plus 'gordons beer fund tax' to shell out, PLUS fitting, PLUS wiping the fault code from the ECU, PLUS all the aggravation of being without for half a day when I've got work to do.

Buy one at your peril.

Mine IS going next week, even if I have to give it away.

Where was it made by the way I hear you ask?

 surrender: correct. thumbsdown:

So what are you proposing to buy as a replacement?  I hear that tanks can be picked up quite cheaply!

Just think, armour plate and a big gun! razz:

Buy a "proper" landy and you can fix anything with a box of spanners and a screw-driver. The new ones are not "Real" landies . Sell it and get a series 111 or summin . you know it makes sense .

A 111? Never heard of him tbh. Do you mean a 110?

It's all very well you ranting on about them, just like they all do on the LR forums, being easy to fix etc etc., but I'm not a mechanic.
They are on their own admission, very poorly built out of recycled dog shite, the Russian version of old Corn Flake packets, all held and 'glued' together with Romanian tramps toss and 2nd hand blue tac. evil:

Great off road when they are actually running, but a total and utter disaster on road.
I wouldn't even attempt to put an ad' behind the bar for it.
Would even feel guilty taking it down to the scrappy tbh.

France?  noooo:

The country that USED to be the pride of motor manufacturing.

Do we actually make ANYTHING in this country now that's worth having?

The best we can hope for I suppose, will be commemorative Tony Bliar porcelain mugs ffs.

A ?Lightweight? would be nice too ? I saw one that had been restored in a garage just the other day and was very tempted?  rubschin:

Given my disastrous experiences with classic cars tho I think given the choice I?d plump for a new ?90 with wading kit ?cos the snorkel looks cool.  eyes:

Why bother?  It adds a bit of character and it'll make it easier to find in the car park  :)
