£25 for three courses. Whitebait to start, lamb shank for mains, creme brulee for pudding. Bottle of wine, half bottle of bubbles, coffee. Total cost £40. Did not feel drunk, dire evening, girls bitched about husbands and men.

Whitebait is exactly that to an angler. You mean tiddlers that you can use to catch larger fish. Very cheap about £1 for two dozen in local tackle shop. Lamb Shank 50 pence wholesale + some steamed veg = another 50p tops. Creme Brulee = Egg custard ... (allow one egg per person + a teaspoon of sugar for glaze) .. costs about 5 pence. Cheap wine at £1.50 a bottle wholesale. Half bottle bubbles £3.00 top price if he bothers to stock half bottles Coffee + 5 pence a cup.
You were robbed.
But, if you had a nice time and can afford it, why not?
She didn't have a nice time tho - it was dire and she puked it all up again after...  noooo:

She should have come down the pub... Um the real pub I mean...  whistle:

Whitebait is always a bit dodgy as they do not gut the fish .... just deep fry them guts, heads and all. OK if they are fresh but iffy otherwise. Personally I avoid them but then having "cheffed" I would.
I used to have a handle on life but it broke.

Well, I had fish ‘n chips from the top of the road and it was lovely…

Something you can’t get in Cyprus so I shall probably have a couple more before heading back next week – will have consumed enough fat to keep me going through the winter…

What do you say to that Cheffy?

Why not open a chippy in Cyprus then? Not a virtual one obviously!

I love good fish n chips. Best I ever had was in a cafe in Volendam attached to this Hotel

Unfortunately as a diabetic they are now a No No.

I know.

I didn't and I can't.

I'd have been happier at the local pizza restaurant with the cheap wine and food where we always have an enjoyable time.
