Dusty tat and other stuff
« on: October 10, 2007, 11:14:04 AM »
Just came across this article while surfing and it really resonated with me.

I just have too much 'stuff' that I don't need or use but that I've kept because it was too good (?) to dispose of. It clutters the house and makes it harder to keep clean and tidy. The loft is full of things that I might need one day but obviously won't. There's even baby stuff up there and boxes that were packed in the last move and not opened (11 years!) And the children's room are chock full of toys that they're unlikely to use again.

Fortunately I have few 'ornaments' (a.k.a dusty tat) but there's still a lot of clutter in the house. The article's right in that a cluttered room is depressing and exhausting.

Time to book a skip I think.

Moving house is sometimes the answer. Our next move will involve several skips.

Oh that strikes a cord .... not Mrs Snoopy's precious tat mountain of course but simply too many possessions that haven't been out of the box in years.

Right ... My mind is made up. A clear out is called for.

I shall, of course, blame you when

Old newspapers perhaps?

Start with a skip I think. Often I try to tidy but end up just moving stuff around because there isn't a proper place for it.

Stick Mags?????   You sure you don't mean Sticky Mags? They should be the first to go. You do have to make room for your two adopted ones you know. I mean, I come with my own kennel but Wenchy has a Tat mountain to accommodate

What's that old saying now?

Oh yes:

Definition of junk (aka 'stuff'): Something you store away for twenty years, only to throw it away the week before you need it!

So, so true. I've been caught out so many times. Doing some kind of little job - thinks; 'I've just the thing up in the loft!' but can I find it? No! Reason is, as my other half reminds me, it was chucked out last week or thereabouts when we had a clear out.

So, another trip to B & soddingQ to re-acquire the 'stuff' (albeit in newer, more expensive,  condition) that was chucked out!

Que sera, sera.
"Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."

Well, someone had to say it!
