Prime Minister Gordon Brown is also highlighting his £100m campaign to get schools offering children five hours of sport a week.

We know that girls, especially as they get older, often stop taking part in sport
Ed Balls
Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families

In a BBC interview, he stopped short of backing calls for children to be weighed and measured at school.

But we were always weighed and measured at school. Didn't do me any harm.

I've got a great plan for this, have the pupils in an enclosed 1km track. Once they have lined up at the start have a wall fall away to reveal Nick with a lit match and a box of firework.

See how fast they can shift themselves then  whistle:

The universe is run by the complex interweaving of three elements. Energy, matter, and enlightened self-interest.
