State Opening of Parliament
« on: November 06, 2007, 11:00:23 AM »
I need to watch the Queen's Speech for work reasons. Coverage starts with all kind of daft rituals. Huw (Welshy Boyo) Edwardes is wetting himself with excitement over silk cushions and suchlike. noooo:

Friend of ours is the producer for the programme. He is bored to tears over it all.

They have announced the content in advance. My job is to find the hidden surprises. There will be a few!

No point in listening/watching ~ you'll need to read the printed version ( 'prolly obtainable from your local MP). Gordo has a habit of saying one thing and then slipping the little extras out in the written version.

Quite right, but the Queen's Speech may add things not previously trailed.

Well I watched and listened and as my late mother would have said "Just like our front room" (ie Not a lot in it) or at least not a lot that we didn't already know about ~ liked the little kicker at the end when she said "and other measures will be laid before you". Typical Gordo ...... "There is more but I just haven't thought of it yet"
