I met Tony Benn's Agent once, when Benn was Member for Bristol.

Mad as a fish certainly, but he has always stuck to his principles and how many other politicians can you say that about, apart from Ian Paisley? Who is also mad as a fish.

Oh it wasn't a complaint ~ merely an aside. Personally I have always found him to be plausible, a good speaker and ..... as mad as a fish.

As an aside, why are our aquatic friends the yardstick for being mad. I thought fish were good for the brain? Now, mad as a BSE riddled bovine would make sense...or a menstrual woman...or Nick...

Mad as a fish ~ I dunno why. I have often heard mad as a box of frogs used instead.
As for Nick ~ I know him and he is far from mad so that would be the last thing I'd say.
