Surely if you are going to teach in an islamic country, knowing just how rabidly extremist some of them can get, the LAST thing any normal sensible person is going to do would be to name a teddy bear after their prophet.

Thats like going into the middle of the bible belt and naming the school furby Jesus  noooo:

I just cannot see what the crime is here.

It is seen as an insult to Islam to attempt to make an image of the Prophet Muhammad.

Then it wasn't an insult, as they just gave a toy bear the most common name in the Islamic world.

And the moral of the story is:

STAY AT HOME, DO NOT INTERFERE IN OTHER COUNTRIES, DO NOT ASSUME YOU KNOW BEST JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE A "WESTERNER".

People who go out to these countries and set themselves up to educate the natives deserve all they get ~ it's not as if they haven't had enough warnings. Clean up your own house before telling others where they are wrong.
We've (Europeans) have been on this missionary trail for long enough ~ was a time when they would have been eaten.

Exactly!

They are capable of teaching their own children what they want them to know ~ meanwhile there are teaching jobs in the UK.
Why was she teaching a British National Curriculum Course?

Mr Boulos said Ms Gibbons was following a British national curriculum course
That course would be one of those that leaves us with 30% of our children unable to read or write at the age of 11 would it?

Ah ~ It makes sense now ... level Johnny Foreigner down to the same piss poor standards as our kids and then they might not blow us up.  ::)

It depends on the circumstances though, in the past I've done aid work in Romanian orphanages without any real problems. Its the morons who go in without having a decent appreciaton of other cultures who are the cause of stupidity like this.

It's noticable that it was the children who picked the name ~ they hadn't yet been indoctrinated with the Islamic 'culture'

That is why they made all the fuss.

It shows the poor level of indoctrination education the kids had.

Wrong, or they would have come up with names like Fred and George!

There are 6 Muslims working shifts in our local Curry Takeaway ~ 4 seem to be called Mohamed ~ none looks remotely like a Teddy Bear though whistle:
