Good Morning
« on: May 14, 2007, 10:11:12 AM »
I thought that it was probably about time that I entered the bar and bade you all Hello.  I am afraid that many people find me very boring, very boring indeed, but I do have moy own views on things and see no reason at all why their tediousness should prevent me from sharing them with you, since even we boring people have our plae in the world and a right to express our opinions, even in such lively company as is to be found here on occasions.

May I have a small shandy please?

Well that IS interesting.  I have a collection of balaclava helmets which I have been assembling for more thany thirty years.  The variety of design and construction in these clothing items has seldom been noticed in the fashion world.  I could bring some in and explain their unique features if you wish.

I do have a similar one in my collection, however the nose hole in this one appears to be missing.  I suspect it may be a second, which gives it some rarity value.  It could well be worth as much as ?6. 50 on e-Bay, assuming the right buyer discovers it.  Might well be worth checking the temperature there and putting the proceeds in your piggy bank for a rainy day.

I have some I sourced in the United States a few years back, three in all, but when they arrived they were rather stained and when I washed them they became somewhat mis-shapen, so they do not occupy pride of place, but I can bring them in to show you if you are interested.  It is nice to find someone with a shared interest.

the fact that you collect balaclavas and write "my" as "moy" indicates you are Irish, therefore you ARE Martin McGuinness and I claim my ?5

I am sorry to disappoint you young man.  Sometimes my fingers stumble as I type and lead to these silly misunderstandings.  I am not Irish at all, as it happens, and descend from English stock which I have traced back successfuly to as early as 1436 (though only on my mother's side as of yet).  Are you interested in genealogy yourself?

Recent research suggests that Mr Khan has more than 16 million descendants in the world today.  Can you imagine what a family get together would be like? Ha ha ha.

Genghis Khan, the fearsome Mongolian warrior of the 13th century, may have done more than rule the largest empire in the world; according to a recently published genetic study, he may have helped populate it too.

An international group of geneticists studying Y-chromosome data have found that nearly 8 percent of the men living in the region of the former Mongol empire carry y-chromosomes that are nearly identical.  That translates to 0. 5 percent of the male population in the world, or roughly 16 million descendants living today.

It's very quiet in here this morning.

Anything to do with you?

Well it seems to have gone very quiet here for some reason, so I suppose I should be toddling off now.  Mrs Bore always has my lunch ready at 12. 30 on the dot (as she always jokes - her name is Dorothy, you see).

I will try to pop in later for another chat.
