Modern/Performance Art
« on: May 15, 2007, 07:12:06 AM »
I saw an article on the news this morning about a ?work of art? which is essentially a glass room full of fog. I can?t find the link on the BBC web site unfortunately. No doubt somebody got a grant/commission for this ?project? ? probably thousands.  noooo:

So it made me think? I wonder if we could get a grant for this ?project?. I don?t see that it has any less value ? it is certainly ?accessible?, it is certainly ?unique? and ?evolving? ? why not? We just have to produce some pretentious description for it to present to the ?luvvies? and we?ll be away.

A friend of mine started a ?Gourmet Club? when he was at teacher training college ? they got a big grant and the (surprisingly small) membership used it to go out and eat/drink at top restaurants. You see, I figure it?s not the idea or the result that counts but having the balls to ask.

So, we?re looking for pretentious descriptions of this site to present to the arts council or some such and anybody with links or contacts to the aforementioned body. Oh, and we need to decide what to do with all the money too!

This week the arts council ? next week lottery good causes?  happy088

Our bathroom often fills with steam in that way. I fear that the artist in question may once have visited us, perhaps when he was a small child, visiting with his parents, I don't recall, but Mrs Bore claims to remember him coming. All small children look alike to me. Still, it is good to know that our bathroom has inspired a work of art. Or it may have been a different bathroom.

A goodwill tour in return for them having given Scooch top marks in the Balkanvision Song contest?

If Tracey Ermin can call a bed that she has used as a toilet a piece of modern art then I'm pretty sure I can fit a glass tank full of rotting food, seal it and sell it as a piece of art damning the culture of waste we have here.

I'm sure there would be some gullible american 'art' collector who would pay a small fortune for it.  eveilgrin:
